Project Description

Quincy Engineering, Inc. completed the seismic assessment, load rating, and the design of deck repairs for this historic steel truss bridge over Bull Run River.

The bridge was formerly one of the spans of the old Burnside Bridge over the Willamette River in Portland constructed in 1884. This span was moved to Clackamas County in the 1920’s when a new Burnside Bridge was constructed.

Quincy Engineering, Inc. developed PS&E for a project to repair deck deterioration that was discovered when an asphalt concrete deck overlay was removed in order to increase the load carrying capacity of the bridge. To avoid rerouting school buses over a lengthy detour, the project was designed in 3 months and constructed in 2 months to ensure that all repairs would result in no impacts to buss traffic for the school year.
