Quincy Engineering Inc. staff provided construction inspection and Assistant Resident Engineer services for the construction of a new 670-foot long, 52-foot wide, cast-in-place, pre-stressed concrete box-girder bridge over the Watsonville Slough. This $8 million bridge is supported on a cast-in-steel shell (CISS) pile foundations. Approximately 150-feet of roadway approach is being constructed at each end of the new bridge, which is replacing the current low water crossing that becomes impassable during winter months. Red-legged frogs are a major enviromental concern that require a full time biologist to be on site during construction activites. Once contruction is completed a recreational trail that ends on both sides of the project will be connected allowing people to visit the Watsonville nature center and Watsonville Slough.
