QUINCY PROJECT WINS 2017 APWA SACRAMENTO PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD
August 4, 2017
On August 4, the APWA Sacramento Chapter held their annual Project of the Year awards ceremony at the Dante Club in Sacramento. Quincy Engineering is proud to be part of the team that designed the 2017 Project of the Year (Transportation Category) – Sheldon Road and Waterman Road Intersection Improvements. The City of Elk Grove teamed with Willdan Engineering, Quincy, Kittelson & Associates, PSOMAS, Martin Brothers Construction, Y&C Transportation, MBI, Jacobs, MBI and Interwest to design and build a roundabout at this former 4-way stop intersection. Quincy provided design, environmental permitting and survey services for this project to improve traffic and safety within this rural residential area of Elk Grove. The new intersection includes pervious colored concrete pedestrian paths around the perimeter of the roundabout, as well as public art themed to match the rural character of the area. The project was bid with two schedule options – 1) staged construction in 80 working days and 2) full intersection closure limited to 30 days. The project was completed in 30 days, opening in advance of the new school year, and coming in well under budget.
